Scene of the Week (13-17 Feb 2017)

Admittedly Finn’s behaviour has bordered on the ludicrous, out of character at worst, but there was a real turning point this week, one sold by the acting talents of Joe Gill and Gillian Kearney. While Finn’s weirdness has made his popularity nosedive, the scenes this week where Emma confronted her son’s bad behaviour and obsession with Kasim were particularly strong. Finn admitted that he was projecting the grief of losing his dad onto Kasim, that he hoped in holding onto Kasim he could hold onto his father. Finn admitting that he went a bit insane might be a bit of an understatement considering the divisive nature of his plot, but even though he might not have won back his likeability, Joe Gill made Finn’s confession raw and vulnerable and there was a certain blissful dramatic irony watching Emma comfort her son knowing that her actions are the root of her son’s downfall.
