The mystery of Who Killed Emma was told in such a fragmented way that at times it felt hard to really content with the drama of the whodunnit, however with this week’s reveal happening on Thursday’s episode, they really stepped up the tension. The end of Wendesday’s episode saw a desaturated montage of all the main suspects looking mean and moody and shot mostly in the shadows. It was a really cool, spine tingling moment that set up the Thursday shocker pretty nicely. In particular the flickering, lightning-esque shots of Pete and Ross, and Moira’s shot with a illusion of light mimicking a cross worked to ramp up the anticipation as we heard Harriet practice her sermon for the funeral. I like when Emmerdale tries something different now and again – and even more so when it pays off!
